We have a hospital in need of a relief veterinarian – west Denver – located 15 minutes west of Littleton on highway 285. The clinic is surrounded by natural beauty to enjoy over lunch hours, but everyone who commutes from the city says it is a faster drive than getting to most metro practices.
The practice has been AAHA accredited since 1978 and boasts the easiest clientele you’ll ever work with. Conifer is a dog crazy town and clientele are devoted to their pets with resources for topnotch care.
Equipment includes Abaxis and ISTAT in-house lab, Sound digital radiography with telemedicine/rad review, Heska fluid pumps, Ellman electrosurgical unit. Dentistry and surgery would not be required of a relief veterinarian, but the clinic has three isoflurane and sevoflurane machine with Cardell anesthesia monitoring and digital dental radiography. The practice owner is a former ER vet so the clinic is stocked a little heavier than many day practices with emergency meds – FFP, pressors, injectables, etc. Relief veterinarians would be free to see urgent care cases or refer to VRCC based on their comfort level.
They have six exam rooms. Three are equipped with lift tables because the practice owner appreciates good lumbar health (his own and his staff). Checkouts are done in the rooms by staff to maintain a quiet and efficient flow. Ultrasounds and orthopedic surgeries are done onsite by boarded specialists.
Scheduling for a relief vet would be 8am to 5pm with a one hour lunch. Appointments are scheduled in 90 minute blocks followed by a 30 minute open block for catchup, diagnostics, phone calls, etc. Clients are trained to leave their pets for diagnostics (day hospitalization) to avoid appointment backups.
The practice is looking to schedule a relief vet for a one week block (Monday-Friday) in September, October, or November.
